It's a game of genuine quality (better than plenty of fully-released AAA games, but far from perfectly polished) with active, fairly interactive devs, solid content, and charm. Obscure/new developers and a fairly small publisher (not counting THQ Nordic and relations to other devs associated with them).Ĭartoony, almost plastic-y art style that could be perceived as placeholder until actually experienced- and it's all destructible, which could scare off people who've been burned by many, many sandboxes with a similar feature and terrible performance caused by it.Įvery time I play Deep Rock, thinking of how good it's become (and was, even when I first bought it) despite its surface-level red flags is pure bliss. It's superb and the lack of ability to get consistent team mates hampers what is an otherwise great experience. It would be really nice if we could get more outside faces on this game. Also, I'd like to see some solid promotion leading up to official release. Maybe host a contest with Deep Dives? Have a cash prize or something, maybe try to co-op with Twitch to make it a front-page event. I'd like to see some cash go into promotion after updates 25 and 26, if possible. Deep Dives are end-game content too and I would assume those who are super dedicated are already amongst the couple thousand already playing consistently. Obviously this impending update is gonna get a lot of people back in the game, but those are people who already own DRG.

And no offense to Bosco, but I think this game is far weaker when playing on your own where you can't divide any mining work and classes like Gunner and Engineer become far more tedious to play without your fellow miners' supplementary abilities. It can get really hard to get someone to join my Haz 4 games, sometimes anywhere from 20-40 minutes, no matter the mission type. However, Steamcharts says the current player count is only 750 in America at noon on a week day, and that's dividing everyone between difficulty levels. No doubt the core gameplay is solid and they plan to keep adding onto it, meaning I'd like to be playing it for a while. It's surprising that the updates to this game so far have been consistently quality.
